Police & Maoists Exchange Fire At A Tourist Resort In Kerala

Kerala police engaged in a gun battle with a gang of suspected Maoists at a private resort along the national highway in Vythiri in Wayanad district in North Kerala on Wednesday evening. According to police reports a group of Maoists reached the private tourist resort at Lakkidi under the Vythiri police station limit at around 9.30 pm with the intention of extorting money from the establishment. Following the resort raising the alarm a Thunderbolt team, the state police’s special forces that fight Maoists, reached the spot following which an encounter broke between the Maoists and the Thunderbolt.
