EC acts against poll violence in West Bengal, cuts short campaigning for final phase - Times of India

Highlights NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Wednesday cut short campaigning for final phase of polling in nine Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal by a day and removed key officials from the state in the wake of violence during BJP president Amit Shah's roadshow yesterday. The poll panel ordered that campaigning in the state will end at 10pm on Thursday. This is a day before the scheduled end of campaigning, as the state votes in the last phase of elections on Sunday, May 19.
